Dylan's last known whereabouts were in his grandmother Dorothy Parsons’ backyard, where, as she describes, he disappeared in an instant while she was tending to the family dog. Hours later, search teams located his rubber boots in Lepper Brook, a fast-moving stream behind the property that empties into the Salmon River.
Investigating officers think Dylan may have fallen into the water and drowned, but his body has never been recovered, and no definitive evidence has confirmed this theory.

The Truro Police Service is diligently investigating Dylan's case. To facilitate new leads, they released age-progressed images of Dylan in 2022, illustrating his potential appearance at ages five and six. Regrettably, these efforts have not produced any new information.
Police say Dylan Ehler's disappearance remains an active investigation. Anyone with information can call police directly at 902-895-5351.

Since the disappearance, the parents have worked diligently to transform the approach to managing missing child cases. In 2021, they successfully concluded a legal action against the administrators of a Facebook group that had disseminated damaging rumors about the family. To this day, the case remains open and active. The family continues their quest for their son and advocates for enhancements in the handling of similar cases.
